League of Women Voters of the Ann Arbor Area records 1920-2009

The Ann Arbor chapter of the League of Women Voters was first organized in 1920 and was reorganized in November 1934. In 1974, the Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti League chapters merged to form the League of Women Voters of the Ann Arbor Area. The record group includes administrative files including annual reports of LWVAA leadership (some in electronic format), as well as financial reports and budgets, minutes of meetings, and administrative correspondence and memoranda; correspondence, minutes, reports and printed material concerning the revision of the Ann Arbor (Mich.) city charter, Ann Arbor public schools, Michigan Constitutional Convention, city planning, taxation, annexations, candidates for local public office, activities of Washtenaw County government, and study and reorganization of county health care facilities, 1966-1973. There are also files relating to environmental issues and election campaigns.

The early history of what is now known as the League of Women Voters of the Ann Arbor Area is uncertain.
