Feminist activist, lawyer, and former president of the National Organization for Women, Patricia Ireland was born in Oak Park, Illinois, on October 19, 1945, the daughter of Joan Filipek and James Ireland. She received a BA from the University of Tennessee in 1966 and a JD from the University of Miami Law School in 1975.
