Fletcher Harper Sibley was born in New York City in 1885. After graduating from Harvard University and the New York Law School, he practiced law in New York City until 1912, when he moved to Rochester, New York to work in the family business. Sibley spent most of his business life operating farms in New York, Illinois, and California. Georgiana Farr Sibley, church woman and civil rights activist, was board member of the national Young Women's Christian Association and president of the United Council of Church Women.
