Publicist, writer, and editor, Doris (Bauman) Gold was born in New York City on November 21, 1919, the daughter of Saul and Gertrude (Reiss) Bauman. She graduated from Brooklyn College (B.A. 1946) and Washington University (M.A. 1955), and was an instructor of English at the University of Kansas (1946-1948) and the State University of New York at Farmingdale (1958-1959).
