Born in Montclair, New Jersey on May 7, 1866, the son of Alfred and Jane Brown Tucker Taylor, he attended public school and entered Harvard College in 1884. Emerson (Harvard, Ph.D. 1909), psychotherapist, was the first clinical psychologist at Massachusetts General Hospital, examiner in psychopathology at Boston Psychopathic Hospital, and assistant in neurology at Harvard Medical School.
