Lurton Blassingame (1904-1988) is one of the earliest and most respected publishing agents. He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota and attended Columbia where he wrote his masters thesis on the history of pulp fiction. His first notable job was as a film writer in Hollywood. In 1937 he founded the American Library Foundation with William Allen.
