Nick (Nicholas Joseph) Begich (1932-1972) was born and raised in Minnesota. In the mid 1950s he moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where he worked in education and education administration. He was elected to two terms in the Alaska State Senate (1963-1971). In 1970 he won election as a Democrat to the U.S. House of Representatives and began his service as Alaska's congressman on January 3rd 1971. He disappeared while on a campaign flight from Anchorage to Juneau, Alaska, October 16th 1972. ...
