The Idaho Environmental Council was formed in 1968 by Brock Evans, Northwest representative of the Sierra Club and the Western Federation of Outdoor Clubs. It was the first conservation group in Idaho to have “Environmental” in its name. The Idaho Environmental Council’s newsletter was first published from 1968 to 1970 by University of Idaho professor Jim Calvert and then from 1971 to 2009 the Council’s newsletter was edited and published by Gerald A.
