Jack Toole was born in Montana around 1912. The grand-nephew of Montana's first governor, Toole continued the family tradition of a life in politics. Toole was a state legislator for two terms and ran unsuccessfully for the positions of governor and lieutenant governor. Outside of the political arena, he operated the Diamond Willow Ranch north of Shelby, Montana.
