Arlin Turner papers, 1953-1979

Arlin Turner was a professor in Duke's English Department from 1953 to 1978 and served as department chair during 1958-1964. Born in Abilene, Texas, Arlin Turner received his B.A. from West Texas State University in 1927 and his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Texas in 1930 and 1934, respectively. He joined the English Department at Duke University in 1953 and served until 1979. He was department chair from 1958-1964.
