Sir Edwin Arnold (1832-1904) was an award-winning poet and journalist. Born and raised in Essex, Arnold earned both a B.A. and M.A. from Oxford. In 1873, he became chief editor of the major London newspaper, the , a post that he held for 16 years. After his retirement from the paper, Arnold embarked on a series of world travels and continued to write articles for the .
