Francis Gordon Brown papers 1899-1901

Correspondence, newspaper clippings, photographs, and a scrapbook of Francis Gordon Brown, chiefly relating to the Yale football seasons of 1899 and 1900. Included are letters to Walter Camp from Yale men commenting on the games in November and December, 1900, and a letter from Camp to Brown (1900 Dec 18) on football strategy. Of particular interest is a letter (1901 Jun 22) from Theodore Roosevelt inviting Brown with other Yale and Harvard athletes to a gathering at Oyster Bay. The scrapbook contains tickets, badges, programs, menus and other memorabilia in addition to letters and photographs of the team.
