On December 2, 1905, Mrs. Tunis G. Bergen brought together a group of Brooklyn residents at the Barnard Club House on Remsen Street to form New York City's first borough-based Red Cross organization. Edith Falk, daughter of Karl Falk,of Miltenberg am Main was born on July 5, 1911 at Miltenberg. During the 1920s she attended high school and professional school in Miltenberg and Frankfurt, and from 1930-1931 she worked as a kindergarten teacher in Berlin.
