Walter Lewis (1854-1924), son of William Lewis and Ann Evans, was born in Salt Lake City June 25, 1854. In his early twenties, Lewis embarked on a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in Wales, where Latter-day Saint missionaries had been preaching since the 1840s.
