James Creighton letterbook 1813-1819

Letterbook of James Creighton, Captain in the British Navy, dated August 23, 1813 through August 25, 1819. Contains copies of official and personal letters sent and received, relating to routine matters; impressments; landing of arms and ammunition in France in July 1815; and other topics. Sent letters were dated at Quebec, Spithead, Havre, London, Halifax, and other locations. For the greater part of the time he kept this letterbook, Creighton commanded the ships H.M.S. Aeolus and H.M.S. Ringdove, respectively

Richard Howe, Earl Howe, was born in London, England, on March 19, 1726, the son of Emanuel Scrope Howe (1699-1735) and Mary Sophia Charlotte von Kielmansegg (1703-1782). Around 1735, he joined the crew of the merchant ship Thames, and in July 1739 he joined the 40-gun Royal Navy ship Pearl .
