Tiffany Thayer papers ca. 1914 - ca. 1956

Tiffany Ellsworth Thayer (1902-1959) was an American actor, reporter, motion picture scenarist, and author of thirteen novels. He founded the Fortean Society, an organization dedicated to continuing the work of Charles Fort (1874-1932), a journalist, writer and investigator of occult phenomena. Collection contains manuscripts, typescripts and research notes for Thayer's writings; papers of George F. Gillette and Alfred H. Barley relating to astronomy and astrology; and notes and other materials collected by Charles Fort on occult phenomena. Literary manuscripts and typescripts consist of drafts of Thayer's novels and short stories. Gillette's papers include letters, 1934-1936, from librarians acknowledging receipt of his works and correspondence relating to astronomical theory. Barley's papers contain his correspondence, 1914-1930, and manuscripts and notes by Barley on astronomy and astrology. Papers of Charles Fort consist of his notes on occult phenomena, clippings and some letters from the 1920s to ca. 1932. Also, printers' blocks belonging to Thayer.
