The Haven family traced their roots to Richard Haven, a carpenter born in England or Wales in 1645, who settled in Lynn, Massachusetts; and to John and Nathaniel Haven, who settled in Framingham, Massachusetts in the 1690s Dwight Craig Haven was born in 1863 in New Lenox, Illinois, the son of Hon. Dwight Haven and Lizzie Craig. He served as a County Judge in Joliet, Illinois. He began researching the Haven family in 1903. papers are comprised mainly of correspondence relating to genealogical research on the Haven family, genealogical surveys, and a typescript history of the Haven family.
