Francis Andrew Boddy was born in York in 1935 and was educated at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He gained the qualifications MB ChB, in 1959 and a Diploma in Public Health in 1968. Boddy went on to become a lecturer in the Department of Social Medicine, University of Aberdeen and then Senior Lecturer, Department of Epidemiology and Preventative Medicine, University of Glasgow. Boddy then became Director of the Public Health Research Unit in the University of Glasgow until c.1998 . ...
