Publisher. Tuer went to London in 1856 with the idea of becoming a doctor but was soon dissuaded of that profession and turned to a merchant's office. About 1862 he set up as a wholesale stationer and was joined the following year by Abraham Field, thus establishing the firm of Field and Tuer.
