Shirley Hughes is an English author and illustrator whose work is extremely popular and well received. She was born near Liverpool, England in 1927 and studied at the Liverpool Art School and the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Arts at Oxford University where she decided to focus on illustrating books.
