Three brothers of the Guillotte family bought the fiefdom of Franquetot, on the Cotentin peninsula in Normandy, France, in 1528. Their descendents took the surname de Franquetot, bought the neighbouring fiefdom of Coigny in 1577, and built a chateau there in 1598.
