Joseph de Pellicer de Salas y Tovar (1602-1679) was a Spanish poet who was influenced by the writings of Gongora. Luis de Gongora y Argote (1561-1627), poet, was born at Cordoba, Spain, on 11 July 1561. He was educated at the University of Salamanca, and was ordained priest, ultimately becoming chaplain to Philip III. The Baroque style of his works, which include Panegyrico al duque de Lerma and Las soledades, became known as Gongorism. He died at Cordoba in May 1627. ...
