Sidney Poitier KBE (born February 20, 1927, Miami, Florida – died January 6, 2022, Los Angeles, California), Bahamian-American actor, film director, and ambassador. In 1964, he was the first African American and first Bahamian to win the Academy Award for Best Actor.
