The Albert B. Sabin Clinical Trial Proposal is a packet of materials submitted to Professor Luigi Giannico, the Italian minister of health, requesting permission to initiate and carry out a "Clinical Trial on Possible Immunigenicity of Currently Available Measles Vaccine by Respiratory Route in Infants Before and After Loss of Maternal Antibody," in 1981. Included in the packet is a copy of Dr. Sabin's letter to Professor Giannico, autographed at the head to Dr. W. Curtis Worthington, a copy of the trial proposal, and photocopies of articles cited in the proposal. At the time of the request, Dr. Sabin was Distinguished Research Professor of Biomedicine at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Dr. Albert Sabin, developer of the oral, live virus polio vaccine, began his career in biomedical research in 1926 while still a student at New York University where he received his M.D. degree.
