Papers, ca. 1907 - ca. 1942, mostly related to Wall's historical research and the work of the New-York Historical Society. They include manuscripts and notes for lectures and entries in the Dictionary of American Biography; manuscripts related to Alexander C. Flick's "History of the State of New York"; the syllabus for a course Wall taught at Columbia in 1942 on museums and historical societies; photographs, dating from the 1930s, of museums in England and the Netherlands, and notes on the lighting of museums; a few other miscellaneous photographs, including a miniature photograph of the Flatiron Building; notes on Wall's research into the Stevens, Lummis, Guion, and O'Brien families; ephemera, membership lists, and other papers related to the administration of the New-York Historical Society; pinback buttons, dated 1916 and 1917; and a halfpenny token, dated 1794 and issued by John Fowler in London, portraying Neptune and a whaling boat.

Alexander Clarence Flick (1869-1942) was a historian and university professor. He taught history and political science at Syracuse University from 1899 to 1923, before becoming the New York State historian and Director of Archives from 1923 to 1939.
