Consisting of correspondence, scrapbooks, programs, and newspaper clippings documenting Boineau's association with United Daughters of the Confederacy but also with such other organizations as Columbia Junior Chamber of Commerce [Jaycees]; S.C. Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation; S.C. Heart Association; S.C. Council for the Common Good; Y.W.C.A. of Columbia; Woman's Club of Columbia; S.C. Federation of Women's Clubs; Boys' Clubs of Greater Columbia; Columbia Museum of Art; Columbia Festival Orchestra, and Women's Symphony Association. Political interests and involvements are reflected in letters relating to her leadership in South Carolina Women for Russell, an organization supporting Governor Donald Russell's unsuccessful 1966 campaign for the U.S. Senate; correspondents include Strom Thurmond, Nancy Moore Thurmond, Ernest F. Hollings, Bob Dole, Lee Atwater, Donald S. Russell, Virginia Russell, Lester L. Bates, Robert E. McNair, Josephine McNair, and Jimmy Carter. Items of interest pretaining to Columbia hospitals, churches, and schools include a copy of Boineau's play "They Dared to Secede," which dramatizes role of First Baptist Church (Columbia, S.C.), in secession from the Union (ca. 35 pages; filed in Carton 3) - script includes sketches of scenery, blocking and other details from the production; form letter and accompanying document, 1966, re desegregation of Columbia, S.C., city schools; Columbia, S.C., schools represented include University High School, Brennen, Crayton, McMaster, and James H. Hammond Academy. Also includes programs and playbills from Foster School of Dance and University Players; letters and documentation re successful efforts to have Midfields plantation, also known as Ellerbe House, at Boykin, S.C., added to the National Register of Historic Places. Also including printed items re Tarantella Club, Saraband Club, Carillon Ball, and Springdale Hall Club, Camden, S.C.; two letters, 1970, from New York artist William F. Draper discussing plans to paint portraits of the Boineau family; and personal correspondence, 1966-1971, detailing plans for safaris to Africa. Includes two scrapbooks from early 20th century collecting clippings re women on the homefront during the Civil War collected from newspapers around the southeastern states, and another with clippings re Columbia, S.C., historical items pertaining to Confederate veterans of the Civil War, and Woodrow Wilson's ties to Columbia, S.C.; South Carolina Scrapbook, May 2000, compiled by Alexandra Boineau for a school project, with sections on S.C. geography, government, symbols, tourism, and Famous South Carolinians, with list of inductees, 1973-2000; and printed volume, by W.N.
