Claude Berry Scrapbooks : scrapbooks, 1900-1971.

A collection of four scrapbooks donated by Tyrus Berry, son of Claude Berry. These scrapbooks contain clippings, photos, contracts, box scores from Berry's days as a player in the minor leagues, major leagues and Federal League. Also included is information of Berry's life and career after baseball. Items of interest include: Volume 1 - telegrams, contracts with salary from 1902 and 1903, 1908 Pacific Coast season pass for Mrs. Berry. Volume 2 - baseball card from Pacific Coast League, signed contract dated 1913, a "Home Run Kisses" baseball card 1912, a "Zeenut Series" 1912 card, a 1911 Pacific Coast Biscuit card. Volume 3 - contracts with San Francisco Seals and Portland club and more, real estate partnership contract, photographs, hunting license, draft registration card, Thank you letter from Hall of Fame for donation, 8 X 10 photo of Calexico Team in 1908 which Berry managed. Volume 4 - telegrams, Hall of Fame tickets 1964, 2 world series tickets 1970 game 1 & 2, 2 tickets to Cincinnati games 1961 and 1962, correspondence. photographs. One photo is an 8 X 10 of Walter Nagle, business partner.

Claude Elzy Berry was born February 14, 1880 in Losanville, Indiana and died February 1, 1974 in Richmond, Indiana. He was a catcher for the Chicago White Sox (1904), Philadelphia Athletics (1906-07) and Pittsburgh Rebels (1914-15).
