Arnold M. Mallis received both bachelor and master's degrees in entomology from the University of California at Berkeley. Prior to his appointment to the Penn State faculty, Mallis was a senior research entomologist for the Gulf Research and Development Company. He came to Penn State as assistant professor of entomology extension in 1968, became associate professor in 1973, and retired in 1975. He authored two books, American Entomologists and Handbook of Pest Control, and published numerous research papers on household pests and the history of entomology.
