Mehle, Roger W. (Roger William), 1915-1997
Roger William Mehle was born October 16, 1915, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He received his commission as Ensign in the U.S. Navy in 1937, and advanced through grades to the rank of rear admiral in 1964. He commanded the U.S.S. Saratoga from 1960 to 1961, and was made commander of Carrier Division 1 in 1967. Mehle died on August 20, 1997, in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
