Professor Rose was born on Nov. 2, 1949. She earned a B.A. (1971), a M.S. (1972), and a Ph.D. (1985) all in Elementary Education from Indiana State University-Terre Haute. She was hired by CMU in 1988 and earned tenure in TEPD. In 2006 she served as chair of the department. Recognized as an outstanding teacher, she received the 2001 Outstanding Teacher Educator in Reading Award. She is part president of the Michigan Reading Association and has served on several committees for the Michigan State Department of Education. A member of a number of professional and academic organizations, Professor Rose has published numerous papers in professional and academic publications, as well as coauthored a book on portfolios and is working on a book designed to assist struggling readers in grades 4 through 9.
