Frank attended Ferris State Institute, now University, 1898-1899, and graduated from Central State Teachers College (CSTC), now Central Michigan University (CMU), in 1900. In 1901 he married Laura A. Wiley, his Ferris sweetheart. Together they had six sons. Laura and Frank both taught school. Frank joined the CSTC faculty in 1916. In 1948 he retired as head of the Dept. of Commerce after 32 years of service. Robinson Hall and Dining Commons at CMU were named in his honor. Active in local politics and political organizations, Frank served as Mayor of Mount Pleasant, 1941-1944, and ran unsuccessfully for State Senator in 1948 and 1950. All their sons and Laura, who returned to school at age 68, eventually graduated from CMU. They were active in the First Methodist Church.
