The Schoolcraft Rural Telephone Company was organized in Bemidji (Minn.) in 1909 to provide service to territory outside the city in Beltrami and Hubbard counties. In 1965 it took over most of the service provided by the Helga Rural Telephone Company. In 1970 the company was dissolved and its service area transferred to Northwestern Bell Telephone Company.
