The Atlanta, Birmingham, and Atlantic Railway was formed in 1905 to purchase the Atlantic and Birmingham Railway and extend its tracks into Birmingham. The AB & A Railway consolidated with the A & B Railway in April of 1906 to form the Atlanta, Birmingham and Atlantic Railroad. The company was reorganized under the name Atlanta, Birmingham, and Coast Railroad in 1926.
