Peace Lutheran was formed in the fall of 1976 from a nucleus of members of an LCMS congregation in Burns during the height of the LCMS controversy. The LCMS congregation, First Lutheran, was made up of a former merger in 1969 of an ALC congregation in nearby Hines and LCMS members of First Lutheran in Burns. The newly formed congregation identified with the AELC and shares facilities with St. Andrew’s Episcopal parish.
