Noah Noble was born January 15, 1794 in Berryville, Clarke County, Virginia. He married Catherine Stull Van Swearingen in 1819 and they had three children. He served in the Indiana militia. He moved to Indianapolis in 1825 where he worked as a layer, farmer, merchant, operated a fulling mill, operated Brookville hotel, served as director of the Brookville branch of the State Bank of Indiana and was an agent for the Hartford Fire Insurance Company. He served as Franklin County sheriff 1820-1824. He was Governor of Indiana 1831-1837 and ran unsuccessfully for U.S. Senate in 1836 and 1838. He died February 8, 1844 in Indianapolis. Alexander H. Davidson was an Indianapolis schoolteacher and businessman; he was also a member of the executive committee of the Indiana Constitutional Union Party in 1860. He was married to Catherine Noble.
