Variant namesAlarmed by the Battle of Cibecue in 1881, many Chiricahua Apaches left the reservation and fled into Mexico. Most returned to San Carlos by 1883, but others followed Geronimo and didn't return until Geronimo's surrender to Gen. Crook at Canon de los Embudos in the Sierra Madres of Mexico.
