Snell, Reese, 1924-

Reese Snell played football and basketball while attending Meridian High school. He served two years during World War II with the 85th Infantry Division and received a Bronze Star for Heroic Action. After the war, he attended the University of Southern Mississippi, playing football and baseball while earning bachelor's and Master's degrees. He coached high school athletics in Louisiana and Mississippi. He was inducted into the Mississippi Coaches Hall of Fame, the University of Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame, and was awarded the National Football Hall of Fame Distinguished American Award in 1983.
