Stevens began in 1886 as Chas. A. Stevens & Bros. In Dec. 1932, Charles A. Stevens died. Beginning in 1933, the store was called Chas. A. Stevens & Co. Eventually it included a main store on State Street in Chicago plus other city and suburban stores. During the 1940s-1960s, it was a fashion leader in women's clothing in Chicago. Stevens stores were sold and eventually liquidated in 1988.
