Under the auspices of the Division for Missions in North America, LCA, the Rev. Wilton H. Anderson was called in 1969 to develop a new congregation in Federal Way. The first worship service took place on October 5 of that year at the Olympic View Elementary School, and Sunday School began a month later. A congregational charter opened on March 1, 1970, culminating in formal organization on October 25 with 70 adults and 54 children. A name for the church was selected, a constitution adopted, and a church council elected. Ground was broken for the first unit on August 5, 1973, and dedication took place on February 17, 1974. A second unit, consisting primarily of classrooms, was built and dedicated January 28, 1979. An additional 1.3 acres adjacent to the church was purchased in 1983 for future use.
