Elkins, Joseph Milton, 1833-1862.
Joseph Milton Elkins was born in Fauquier County, Virginia in 1833, married his cousin, Sarah Ann Elkins on July 19, 1853, and at the outbreak of the Civil War enlisted as a private in Company A (and was later transferred to Company E), 49th Virginia Regiment. He was wounded in the leg at Sharpsburg on September 17, 1862, and died on November 6, 1862.
