Brown, Austin H., 1828-1903

Brown was born in Rush County, Ind., and moved to Indianapolis in 1837 with his family. His father, William J. Brown, was a politician, and Brown followed his father into Democratic politics. Brown worked with his father on the STATE SENTINEL, was appointed collector of internal revenue for Indiana in 1866, and in 1877 was clerk of Marion County. He was a member of the Democratic National Committee.
