Alice Matilda Schwartz (1918-2002), native of Kansas and Ph.D. in art education in 1960 from the Pennsylvania State University, was a pioneer in producing and writing art educational television series for children; the most notable being "Key to the Cupboard" a weekly live television program emanating from Pennsylvania State University but broadcast from Altoona, "Art and You" as an associate professor at Southern Illinois University and, "Meaning in Art" when she returned to Pennsylvania State University to teach and serve as the project director for this 60-program television series for the schools of Pennsylvania.
