Carleton, S. B., 1848-1899.

Born in Cumberland, Md., in 1867 Carleton joined the staff of the Denver Gazette, then the Cheyenne Star, and a gentile newspaper in Salt Lake City, eventually moving to Calif. In 1870 he moved to Brazil where he took a government job. He returned to Calif. in 1872, where he started Town Talk in San Francisco in 1892. He was active in many fraternal organizations. He died in San Jose on Jan. 27, 1899.
