Redfield family.
Dr. Matthew Watson Thornburg and his wife Louise (Redfield) resided in Redfield, Iowa. Their son James graduated from Yale in 1845, served as a senator in the 9th Iowa General Assembly and served as Lieutenant Colonel of the 39th Iowa Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War. James was killed in action at the Battle of Allatoona Pass on October 5, 1864.
