Howze, Hamilton H. (Hamilton Hawkins), 1908-
Variant namesHamilton Hawkins Howze (b. Dec. 21, 1908, White Plains, New York), Major General in the U.S. Army, graduated from West Point in 1930. During World War II, he served as assistant chief of staff for operations, 1st Armored Division, in England and North Africa; commander of battalion and regiment, 13th Armored Regiment (1943-1944); and commander, Combat Command A, 1st Armored Division, in Italy. During the 1950s, General Howze served in Germany and other parts of Europe as commanding general, 82nd Airborne Division. Beginning in 1959 he was chief, military advisory group, in Korea.
