Falconer, William A., 1859-1943

William Falconer was born in Ontario, Canada in 1859 and came to Bismarck, N.D. in 1873 and worked in his brother-in-law's store. He held various county offices and was deputy state treasurer. He married Emma Butley and they had three children. He died at Bismarck on June 5, 1943.

One of Bismarck's earliest settlers and a post trader, Robert Wilson lived in Bismarck 1873-ca. 1880. He owned real estate and Wilson and Porter drugstore with Dr. H.R. Porter. He was elected (Democrat) to the Territorial Council from Burleigh County and ca. 1880 moved to Fort Pembina as post trader.

Sarah Campbell, a Black citizen of Bismarck, was employed as a cook with Custer's 1874 expedition to explore the Black Hills. She was the first woman to file a mining claim in the Black Hills and went to the Klondike during the Alaska gold rush.
