Portage County (Ohio)
Portage County (Ohio) was founded in June 1807 with Ravenna as the county seat.
Hancock County (Illinois), named after U.S. founding father John Hancock, was formed in 1825. The original county courthouse was in Montebello, near the future city of Nauvoo. However, in 1833 Carthage became the permanent county seat.
