Civil War soldier from Manito, Ill.
John A. Boon served in Company A, 85th Illinois Infantry (1862-1865) as did his brother Calvin, who died of wounds received in battle 13 July 1864. A younger brother, William C. Boone, served in Company C, 148th Illinois Infantry (1865). Their uncle, William B. Robison, served in Company A, 28th Illinois Infantry (1861-1866). John Boon's brother-in-law, Lemuel Ruckman served in Company I, 139th Illinois Infantry (1864).
