Plans, 1775-1870 of properties in Co. Durham, and legal precedent books, 16th-19th century, from the legal records of Sir William Gibson.
The firm of Clayton and Gibson, soliticitors, of Newcastle upon Tyne was formed in 1877. This continued under that name until 1972, when it became Wilkinson, Marshall, Clayton and Gibson, uniting the business with Wilkinson, Marshall and Company with whom it had merged in 1951. The Bell family were noted surveyors in the region, based in Newcastle upon Tyne in the 18th and 19th centuries.
