University of Colorado mathematics professor Ira DeLong was a charter member of the New York Mathematical Society, which became the American Mathematical Society. He was elected to the Society in May 1891. One of the founders of the Colorado Mathematical Society in 1905, DeLong served as its president from 1905 to 1907 and from 1912 to 1914. He also served as president of the Rocky Mountain Section of the Mathematical Association of America.
